The Descent of Man by Grayson Perry
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A passionate account of the Department of Masculinity in urgent need of an upgrade, especially on the front of emotional illiteracy. However, the book is full of generalizations both about men and women (who are disproportionally idolized as an example of emotional health by the author, (lol!). The main thesis of the essay is that men, bless 'em, are pretty much fucked up emotionally and in need of a therapy group on a societal/cultural scale. On the other hand, ain't we all?
