Sometimes Graphic people have to make a statement.
Sometimes I really want to make a statement about the reality that surrounds me, but I never do, because I saw too many cheesy illustrated statements, where an ambition was bigger than the result.This time I took that risk myself cause I needed to take this out of my head. I cant stand it anymore.
I was so annoyed by the whole ‘lets bring them democracy’ war ideas in recent years that I couldn’t stop myself. As someone with a passion for history, I’m really sensitive about seeing same mistakes repeated again and again. So as most of American troops leave Iraq and plans about leaving Afghanistan are loudly discussed on every corner, I make my statement about how I understand intervention to totally unknown cultures and I make a parallel about Christian Missionaries who were destroying local cultures everywhere beginning with Baltic region and ending with South-Central America.
Series of two prints that is called “Missionaries: “with peace and love..” . Vector prints are ‘constructed’ from a skull, baroque decor and some folk ornaments to show a mix of death brought by western culture expansion to pagan regions.
