Saturday Night Ruined. A book was just too good.
So I thought I'd spend a Saturday eve with a book and massive cup of hot cacao. I’ve gone away from my desk and computer, found some cookies, wrapped myself into a blanket, dived into my million-pillow-couch-land and all that. After weeks of chasing deadlines and dealing with life, I was so ready to have these couple of hours just for myself and myself only.
Long-delayed, but I’ve finally started to read Andrew Zuckerberg's "Wisdom" combined of short essays on wisdom, creative drive, global peace, relationships and life in general by various acclaimed best-in-their-field people like artists, freedom fighters, actors, musicians, politicians, writers, etc. You know, that sort of people, where you just can't believe that their life is actually one person's biography, because the whole generation fits in it. The books is like a literal box of candies, and though they all come from very different places, but in some odd way, they still reach same conclusions by going back to basic human level, rather than becoming a snob and hiding behind 'smart words' and 'high phrases’. It’s just plain truth in plain English. No over-romanticism, no narcissism whatsoever.
But of course, editor had to put essays by Chuck Close and Billy Connolly in the first quarter of the book. They summed up everything so well that I can’t read it any further, it was literally too much of wisdom for one night. And so though it’s been only few pages I have to make a pause, so my Saturday night was officially ruined.
Still, Billy, you’re a genius.
